Morning Flight
This is a small watercolor painting of Sandhill Cranes flying in the early morning light. The background was a practice pouring of 3 primary colors. Then the 2 birds were added using white gouache.

Luck Arrives
This is a mixed-media painting of a Chinese calligraphy character on rice paper with colored ink in the background. The character FU 福 (luck) presented is upside down (dao). Generally the picture is hung facing the front door, and when guests enter the house they will see and comment "FU dao" meaning "Luck Arrives or Comes".

Anna

"Perfectly Plaid" is designed and taught by Kristin Echols at the Folsom Meissner's. The "Quilt-as-U-go" 54"x72" quilt was a challenging one to make.

April 2013 went by so fast with a visit from my Aussie relatives. "Salt and Pepper Crab" is a signature dish at R&G Lounge in Chinatown, S.F.

Book Signing
Lian signed the flower book for me with a beautiful moth orchid painting. The flower book is his second book published by North Light, and is out of print.
Lian Zhen Demo Watercolor
Lian Zhen's 2013 Watercolor Workshop was held at the Rusch Historical Home. Lian's demo of watercolor painting was nicely presented through a TV screen.

On March 8-10, 2013, Sacramento Fine Art Center's NCA sponsored Lian Zhen's watercolor workshop. Here is Lian doing a demo with Chinese brush painting. Rooster on Shuan paper.

Rose Painting
I did this full sheet of watercolor painting with Jeannie Vodden using her reference photo. Jeannie is well known for her layering technique of transparent Winsor Newton colors (primaries) on 300 lb Arches paper.
Nat's Quilt
The king-size quilt I made a couple years ago has been quilted by Sharon Pierce, a long-arm machine quilter. The batting is 100% wool and top/bottom fabrics are 100% cotton - photos show intricate quilting design and the binding is hand sawn.
Sashy Scarf
I knitted this fun scarf in less than 4 hours - so pretty and the pattern is available onYouTube videos.
